What we collect
- Ticket buyers. Online tickets are sold through Wix, the company that runs this website, and for some nights through HauntPay (run by Passage). They collect your name, email and payment details and share your order with us. At Wix checkout we also ask a few questions. Every one is optional: your phone number, your ZIP code, how you heard about us, and whether you want emails or texts from us or want to hear about volunteering. Card payments online and at the box office go through Square. We never see your full card number.
- Website visitors. Our site runs on Wix, which records basic visit information (pages viewed, device, general location) and uses cookies.
- Volunteers. Name, phone, email, date of birth, emergency contact, signed waiver and, for volunteers under 18, a parent or guardian’s name and phone. We collect this in person.
- Messages. Anything you send us by email, social media or a form.
How we use it
To run the event, sell and check tickets, answer questions, keep volunteers safe and scheduled, reach an emergency contact, and see which posts work.
- Your phone number is for weather or schedule changes on your night. We send news and offers by text only if you checked the text-message box.
- Your email gets your tickets and order updates. We send news about next season and special nights only if you checked that box.
- Your ZIP code and how you heard about us help us decide where to advertise.
- If you said you’re interested in volunteering, we may email you about it.
Who we share it with
Only the services that help us run the event (Wix, HauntPay and Passage, Square), our insurer or lawyer if there’s an incident, and authorities when the law requires it. We never sell your information. We never share your phone number or your text-message consent with anyone else for their own marketing.
Young people
Our haunted house is recommended for guests 13 and up. Volunteers under 18 take part only with a parent or guardian’s permission. A parent or guardian can ask what we hold about their child. Some records, like signed waivers, we have to keep.
How long we keep it
Ticket and visit records: as long as we need them to run the event, keep our books and meet the law. Volunteer waivers and incident records: as long as our lawyer and insurer advise.
Your choices
The marketing questions at checkout are optional. Saying no doesn’t change your tickets. To stop emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email. To stop texts, reply STOP to any text. Message and data rates may apply. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. To ask about your information or have it removed, contact us at the address above.
Using this website
This site’s words, photos and story belong to the Cayce-West Columbia Jaycees. Don’t copy them for commercial use without permission. Dates, prices and hours can change; the ticket page and the box office have the final word. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina.
